Sylvania Lodge Campground and Cabins and Dalhousie Lake Restaurant are located in a lovely park-like setting along the Mississippi River and its headwaters Dalhousie Lake. The park is in the heart of the Lanark Highlands about 10 minutes from Lanark, 20 minute to Perth and about a 1 hour from Ottawa. It is the ideal situation for those wishing to get-away without being too isolated. The original old log building has been converted into Dalhousie Lake Restaurant, which is well known for its excellent cuisine, attentive and friendly staff and of course its panoramic views of Dalhousie Lake. Wireless internet service and satellite TV are available.
Just want to relax? You'll find our private beach a great place to soak up the sun.
Sylvania Lodge Campground and Cabins offers a choice of 5 cottages, three of which face the river front. The cottages are not luxury accommodations, as they are older buildings. But they have been updated, fully equipped, clean and are well maintained. Launch & docking for your own boat is included or lodge fishing boats and canoes are available to rent.
WE ARE PET FRIENDLY. PETS ARE WELCOME. IRRESPONSIBLE PET OWNERS ARE NOT.
THOUGH DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED ON OUR SWIMMING BEACH THEY MAY ENJOY A DIP AT OUR LAKE-SIDE PARK ACROSS THE ROAD.
DOGS MUST BE LEASHED AT ALL TIMES WHEN ON THE CAMPGROUNDS AND OWNERS ARE EXPECTED TO CLEAN UP AFTER THEM.
The park's fully serviced seasonal and non-seasonal RV sites, also provide an attractive alternative to cottage ownership. Many of our campers have been with us for over 40 years, giving the park an atmosphere of congeniality in a family friendly setting. The camper's association is very active in planning many events. ATV enthusiasts enjoy outings along the old K&P trail returning from their day's outing for BBQ's and campfires.
There are many local attractions to enjoy. Maple syrup and sugar camps abound in early spring. The Purdon Conservation area is abloom with Lady Slipper Orchids in late June and its full season board-walked trails meander through the famous fen where a variety of wildflowers and multitudes of bird species are found. Local museums offer unique and up close perspectives on a rich regional history, while many walking trails, bicycle routes, golf and horseback riding provide exercise for all activity levels.
The village of McDonalds Corners is 1 kilometer away. The Hill General Store , the hub of the village, maintains its old world charm offering up a variety of grocery and sundry items, fishing supplies, bait and licenses, all mixed with a heap of local news. The picturesque little village is alive with year-round activities at the agricultural fair grounds.
Waterfront Description & Nearby Activities
The private river shoreline is fed by the clean refreshing waters of Dalhousie Lake and the large, west- facing beach with its gentle sandy slope is perfect for relaxing in the sun. The swimming area is bottomed by mixed sand and pea-stone making it easy on little feet, while a buoyed rope marks a safety boundary for toddlers. The deep waters off the end of our docks invite experienced swimmers and playful diving. The unspoiled lake is quiet and the fishing is great, yet there is plenty of room for boating and water skiing.
Docking at Sylvania Lodge is private and campers can install their own docks in designated areas. Docks on either side of the swimming beach are reserved for registered cottagers only and free use of our private boat launch is included for all registered campers and cottagers.
