Vancouver is the largest city in the Canadian province of British Columbia. Indeed, Condé Nast Traveler Magazine voted Vancouver the "Best City in the Americas" for 2004, 2005 and 2006, based on its ambience, friendliness, restaurants, culture and sites, lodging and shopping.
Theater
Vancouver is the land of live entertainment! Be sure to go Granville Island and check out the Arts Club Theater Company. If you enjoy theater and beaches, go to Vanier Park in Kitsilano for the biggest Shakespearian festival in all of Western Canada - "Bard on the Beach."
Music
The Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, the Vancouver Opera, the Folk Music Festival, and the Vancouver International Jazz Festival are all great reasons music lovers flock to Vancouver.
Vancouver is also known for being the birthplace of bands like 54-40, Moist, and D.O.A. On Dec 21 2003, D.O.A. got a day named after them: "D.O.A. Day."
