About Simcoe County, Ontario
Simcoe County is located in central Ontario, between Georgian Bay and Lake Simcoe - one hour north of Toronto (via Hwy 400). It was initially established as "Simcoe District," in 1843, by the Upper Canada Legislature.
Native culture is prominent in Simcoe County. Indeed, there are several native reserves in the county, including Christian Island 30, Christian Island 30A, and Mnjikaning First Nation 32 (or Chippewas of Rama First Nation).
