About Saskatoon, Saskatchewan 

Saskatoon, which is also known as "S'toon," "The Bridge City," "The Hub City," and "POW City," is the most densely populated city in its province - with over 200,000 people residing there. It is located in the central part of the Canadian province of Saskatchewan, on the South Saskatchewan River. 

Saskatoon for All Seasons

If you visit Saskatoon in the winter, be sure to bring your skates and go to the Meewasin skating rink. It's been around since the 1980s, and it's free! You can find it in Kiwanis Memorial Park, which is located right beside the historical Delta Bessborough Hotel (built in the 1930s). 

The Meewasin Valley Trail, moreover, is a beautiful place to visit year round. You can cross-country ski along it in the winter; and, in summer, bike, jog or walk the scenic trail. The trail itself runs through Saskatoon, alongside the South Saskatchewan River. Throughout the trail, you'll find parks with washroom and picnic facilities, as well as look-out points along the riverside. So, bring a picnic and enjoy the sights!

Saskatoon's Forestry Farm Park and Zoo has 80 species of animals on its premises, as well as an original demonstration forest dating back to 1916. Be check it out!

Saskatoon is especially known for its live theatre and music events in the summer. Don't miss Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan Festival, the Northern Saskatchewan International Children's Festival, the Jazz Festival, FolkFest, and the Saskatoon Fringe Theatre Festival (for some alternative theatre), and the Canada Remembers Air Show.

Be sure to visit to the Mendel Art Gallery right on the South Saskatchewan River. This gallery features over 5000 works of art, as well as programs for all ages.
