Niagara, Ontario

About Niagara, Ontario

The Regional Municipality of Niagara (more often called "Niagara Region" or "Regional Niagara") formed in 1970 by combining the counties of Welland and Lincoln. It is located in southern Ontario, Canada, on the Niagara Peninsula, close to Niagara River, Lake Ontario, and Lake Eerie, and to the US county of Niagara.

The Wine

If you enjoy wine and wineries, then you must experience the Niagara Winery Route. In West Niagara, you'll find the Vineland Estate and Peninsula Ridge wineries, for example. In East Niagara you'll find, among others, the Inniskillin winery, which is famous for its chilled wine.

The Shaw Festival

Take in some theater at the famous Shaw Festival in Niagara on the Lake. The festival is named after playwright George Bernard Shaw, and it features his plays, along with celebrated works from other playwrights. Check it out!

Waterfalls

The Niagara Falls are, obviously, a must-see in the Niagara Region. They're located 17 miles north-northwest of Buffalo, New York, and 75 miles south-southeast of Toronto, Ontario - in other words, between Niagara Falls, Ontario, and Niagara Falls, New York.
