Georgian Bay, Ontario

About Georgian Bay, Ontario

Georgian Bay is part of Lake Huron, in Canada's central province of Ontario. It is notably massive in and of itself: home to the 30,000 islands, with 2,000 km of shoreline. The Bay is so vast that it neighbours several districts and regions: Sudbury District, Parry District, Muskoka and Manitoulin districts, Bruce County, Simcoe County and Grey County.

Cottage Delight

What's so great about Georgian Bay? Well, when you go to Georgian Bay, you have all those districts, counties, and 30,000 islands at your disposal!

The 30,000 islands are referred to as a group of islands (many, many islands). Together, these islands make up the largest freshwater archipelago in the world! Still, each island is unique unto itself. Be sure to check some of them out.

Hop Aboard and Ride the Trent-Severn Waterway

Take a boat ride along Trent-Severn Waterway, which connects Georgian Bay to Lake Ontario. Of particular significance to cottagers, of course, is southern Ontario's "cottage country," which you'll pass along the way. If you're considering buying or renting a cottage, take a boat ride along the Trent-Severn waterway between May and October, and see what's available for yourself!

Photo Opportunities

Cabot Head, and the Shoreline at any time, are sights to see!

The Art of Georgian Bay

Better than a photograph..., look for Group-of-Seven artist Frederick H. Varley's painting Stormy Weather, Georgian Bay (1921).
