Glooscap Trail, Nova Scotia

About Glooscap Trail , Nova Scotia

Stretching across the northern and central parts of the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, you'll find the Glooscap Trail - ROAD TRIP!

Take a road trip along the 227 miles of this beautiful trail - from Wolfville in Kings County to Amherst in Cumberland County (a stone's throw away from Nova Scotia). While driving the trail, you'll see the two most scenic sub-basins of the Bay of Fundy: The Minas Basin and Cobequid Bay.

When in Wolfville, moreover, be sure to visit the Acadia University. There are also many Victorian-style bed and breakfast spots, as well as lovely villages, communities, and parks throughout the Glooscap Trail.

Museums

There are two fascinating geological museums along the trail: the Fundy Geological Museum, and the Joggins Fossil Cliffs and Centre. Be sure to visit them!

Glooscap in History

"Glooscap" is a giant man/god in the Mi'kmaq (among others') creation myths. Minas Basin is historically significant because it holds the world record for the highest tidal measurement ever taken during a spring tide.
