Not really a cottage, the “Loft” is a rustic, converted turn-of-the-century barn sitting on the northeast shore of Lake Saint-Pierre de Wakefield, about 35 minutes (40km) north of Ottawa, just off hwy 307.

The ground floor is the canoe workshop, used only when the loft “apartment” is vacant. For the workshop and its canoes and boats, see separate photos and information.
The living area is the “open-concept” 2nd floor loft, which features a large south-facing window overlooking the lake, a comfortable and sunny sitting area with an airtight wood-stove, a well equipped kitchen (with refrigerator, countertop grill and 2 burners, a countertop convection oven, microwave, coffee maker, kettle, all cookware, plates and utensils, but no full-size oven), a separate dining area, the master bedroom, and a 4-piece bathroom with laundry facilities.

A smaller 3rd level loft (up a very steep staircase!) provides additional sleeping for up to 6 persons (2 single beds, a double bed, and a double futon). Towels and linens are provided.

Guests are requested not to smoke in the barn.

In summer, the region offers the possibility of many water activities… miles of canoeing, windsurfing, and sailing off the dock in front of the barn. The 4 acre property features large landscaped garden areas overlooking the lake, with 400 feet of waterfront. There is a propane BBQ on the covered quai beside the lake, and a fire pit overlooking the lake.
The shoreline can be weedy by mid-summer, but a swimming platform is provided, anchored about 40 feet out, accessed by a canoe, also provided. For the more adventurous, use the barn as a base camp for wilderness canoeing and camping on lac Poisson Blanc, a 30 minute drive away.

In the winter, a number of local ski hills, cross-country trails, and snowshoe trails are within easy drives, and dog sled trips may be arranged from the front door.

Pets are permitted at the Loft during the winter season.

Just 35 Minutes From Ottawa...

... and 5 minutes from Eidelweiss for downhill skiing, 10 minutes to the Nakkertok ski trails, or 25 minutes to Gatineau Park for some of the best cross-country skiing in the world.

There is one private bedroom with a double bed. The other beds (2 singles, a double, and a double futon) share the space in a cozy third level loft area. Up there you should be good friends or family!

Additional Rate Information

2012-2013 rates:
High season: (July and August) $1000.00 per week.
Mid-season: (May and June, September and October) $800/week, $400/weekend, $500/long-weekend.
Off-season: (* November through April) $300/weekend, $400/long weekend, $400/4 nights, $500/week, or $1400/month. One night weekend $200, one night mid-week $150.

* Please note that the Christmas, NewYears and Easter periods are included in the "High Season" rate category, and these periods are available only by the week.

These rates apply for up to 6 persons, all inclusive. There is a 25% surcharge on the applicable rate for each additional person, up to a maximum of 8 persons, including children. A deposit of 25% is requested
