Property Description

Paquette’s Camp is a remote drive-in wilderness hunting and fishing camp with the closest settlement being Chapleau, Ontario. We are located on Wangoon Lake, which has great Whitefish, Walleye, Northern Pike and Smallmouth Bass fishing. Three miles from our camp you can get into some excellent Lake Trout Fishing. Wangoon Lake is a chain of four lakes exhibiting classic rocky Canadian Shield structure with islands, shoals and other places that hold large amounts of gamefish.
Due to our location on the outer edge of the Chapleau Crown Game Preserve, we offer excellent Moose Hunting and Black Bear Hunting. Our Moose hunt takes place in WMU 32 and WMU 35. Both areas are open to rifle hunters. WMU 32 is open to bow hunters. Our Bear Management Area (BMA) is 187 square miles of prime Black Bear habitat and our hunt is set up for both Bow Hunters and Rifle Hunters. Black Bears harvested by guests typically range from 150 pounds to 400 pounds, though there are bigger black bears out there. Our black bear hunt is excellent with success rates being between 75% and 100% each year.

We have seven fully equipped housekeeping cabins on Wangoon Lake as well as a campground with drive-through campsites for RVs and Trailers. Electrical hook-up is available for campers.

We offer much more than fishing and hunting. There are many exciting activities for the whole family in our wilderness region. Please look through our website and feel free to contact us with any questions.

Attractions & Resort Activities

Paquette's Camp is a wonderful place for kids to be kids. Here's a list of activities the whole family can enjoy:
•Enjoy a campfire (Firewood provided at no extra cost)
•Go for a swim! Swimming is a fun activity for the whole family
•Listen to the calls of the loons
•Take a ride into the Chapleau Crown Game Preserve (only seconds away) where you may see Moose, Bear, Beaver, Lynx, Wolves, and many other species of wildlife
•Take a day for bird-watching! There are many species of birds to see such as Eagles, Osprey, Hawks, Owls, Loons, Herons and many smaller birds
•Go on a berry-picking excursion and enjoy fresh blueberry pancakes for breakfast
•Explore some of the many places available for hiking
•Explore Wangoon Lake by canoe or kayak
•Enjoy a group fish fry! Ask us about having one while you are here
•Bring along your own equipment to explore with such as bicycles, ATVs, kayaks, etc.
•Sit and take in a sunset, or gaze at the canopy of stars at night
•Take a break while the children tire themselves out on the playground, or find entertainment in the recreation room equipped with a juke box, pool table, air hockey table, satellite TV, and board games
•Get a group together for a game of basketball, horseshoes or volleyball
•Experience the thrill of a train ride. For a small fee you can have the passenger train stop and pick you up at the camp and take a short ride into Chapleau (about a 15 minute ride), or you can take a longer ride and spend the night in White River and return the following day
•Chapleau (about 30 minutes away) has a 9 hole golf course, a small museum, hiking trails and limited shopping
•Potholes Provincial Park (about 1 hour away) offers a hiking trail along a beautiful creek that cuts its way through the rocky terrain for some incredible scenery
•Take a day-trip to Timmins (2 1/2 hours away) and check out the Gold Mine tour, Shania Twain Centre and the Cedar Meadows Wildlife Park

Waterfront Description & Nearby Activities

We have a small sand beach with a floating dock and a "Splash Zone", equipped with a water trampoline, slide and "splash log". We have buoys set up to provide a shallow zone for children to play in.

Individual Unit Description

All of our housekeeping cabins are fully equipped including bedding, with the exception of hand towels, bath towels, and dish towels. All cabins have bathrooms and showers and there is a centrally located shower house available as well with toilets, showers and laundry facilities. In addition there is a recreation room with a pool table, jukebox, satellite TV and a variety of board games.
Our cabins range in size from two bedrooms to five bedrooms, so we are able to accommodate groups of all sizes.
~ Cabin rentals are from Saturday after 4:00 p.m. until the following Saturday at 8:00 a.m. (Unless prior arrangements are made) ~
