Bromont Attractions

Bromont will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2014. The village of West Shefford existed long before the dream of the Désourdy brothers to establish a town was achieved. The history of this village dates back to 1793 with the arrival of Irishman John Savage who obtained the mandate to colonize the area of Shefford Township. The beginnings were hard, as the lands were not fertile, but courage and conviction resulted in the establishment of West Shefford in 1888. Initially a mostly English-speaking area, little by little the village was occupied by Francophones and experienced a rich and colourful history. The villages of West Shefford and Adamsville and surrounding areas were merged to create Bromont.
