Property Description
Welcome to Cliff Waters, a unique oceanfront cottage accommodation on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. Aside from a sense of unlimited space, relaxation, peace and privacy, a vacation to Cliff Waters means that you will be visiting an island voted in 2004 as the best travel destination in North America by National Geographic Traveler. You will tour Nova Scotia’s world famous Cabot Trail, through the Cape Breton Highlands National Park, and lodge right in Pleasant Bay on the waterway recognized as the best for whale watching in Atlantic Canada. You may visit the peaceful and solitude seeking residents of Gampo Abbey; North America’s first Tibetan Buddhist Monastery built for Westerners, and meditate as you walk Cape Breton’s scenic coastal hiking trail to Pollett’s Cove, said to be one of the most beautiful places in Canada. Take part in Pleasant Bay’s Squash Camp, swing into the Highlands Links Golf Course, ranked by Golf Magazine as Canada’s Top Public Course and 64th in the world, or take in more than 25 hiking trails, over a dozen whale watching tour operators, miles of pebble beaches, restaurants, gift shops, artisan studios, museums and galleries in the highlands area.
The fully equipped cottage features a loft, cathedral ceiling, open concept living area, kitchen, three-piece bath, queen and two single beds. Skylights and large sunny picture windows provide breathtaking views, while a wood finish on the floors, walls, and ceilings convey warmth, ambiance, and authentic cottage character. The ocean facing deck sets the mood for relaxed meals, contemplation, evening sunset and whale watching, and late night star gazing.
Wildlife
The landscape in and around Cliff Waters is home to many forms of wildlife including moose, deer, black bear, fox, lynx, coyotes, martins, bunnies, squirrels, and chipmunks.
There are over 200 species of birds on Cape Breton Island including hummingbirds, songbirds, bald eagles, hawks, owls, cranes, puffins, and diving gannets.
Pleasant Bay is the whale watching capital of Atlantic Canada. Humpback, fin, pilot, minke, orca, right, blue and beluga whales, white-sided and common dolphins, tuna and sun fish, seals, basin shark, and leatherback turtles frequent the area.

Additional Bedroom Information
The cabin is open concept and although this sounds strange, it works beautifully – there is a queen bed on the main floor, yes right in the midst of the open concept plan – which makes this cabin well suited to a couple or a couple with children (who can sleep in the loft). When you get tired of looking at the ocean from the couch or lazy boy, or the kitchen island or the deck, you can look at it from the bed and feel the ocean breeze across your face as the sound of the waves lull you to sleep...
West and north facing windows which offer a good cross breeze. The loft has one single bed, a single futon, and an east facing window. Sleeps up to 4 people.
