Bloom was exactly what my boyfriend and I were looking for. The only problem with Bloom is that you don't want to leave. The accommodation is very comfortable and incredibly beautiful and the food was perfect - delicious, fresh, homemade and locally/organically made. It was so easy to relax when I knew that Paul and anna had taken care of every detail.

We decided to stay at this beautiful B&B; on Saltspring Island when we realized that it was recently constructed by the owners of Blue Horse Gallery. We used to live in Edmonton, Alberta, and we had visited the gallery a few years ago and bought a contemporary, blue rectangular vase that we love. The gallery is a must see if you're on Saltspring, but we leave that up to you to discover. There are two different rooms to stay in, both impeccably decorated. One is above the gallery with a beautiful view over the pond and garden. The other room which we stayed in is adjoined to the owner's fantastic studio/home. The furniture and walls in both rooms are entirely painted in a rich cream color. The walls are generously accented with original artwork from the gallery. The lamp bases are designed and made by the owners as well. The bed linens are of exceptional quality. Anna was a gracious host and made incredibly delicious pastries from her kitchen for our 2nd breakfast. This B&B; is located on a beautiful property with arbutus trees and has a truly exotic garden and pond with lovely stone patios around it. It is a work of art in itself, in progress. The fencing is beautifully designed as well. The location is very private and it is completely silent at night. A north location on the island, it is about a 15-minute drive to the towns of Vesuvius or Ganges, or about a half-hour drive to the southern most town at Fulford Harbor. The only suggestion that we have is for anna to offer the home-made pastries for every breakfast rather than just on the morning that one leaves. This would add value to the price charged.

There's no shortage of B&Bs; or lodging options on Salt Spring Island, but this retreat should be at the top of your list of places to stay. We stayed in the Pond Suite above the gallery and it was immaculate, well appointed, and perfectly cozy. Anna & Paul stock the kitchenette with fresh organic treats like yogurt, granola, coffee, jams, and chutneys to sample.

There is ample privacy and the original artwork that graces the interior (graphite drawing in the shower, handcrafted lamps, hand painted window shades) makes the studio unique.

There are 2 separate suites on this property: pond and orchard. We stayed at pond which is on the second floor, above the owners' art gallery, Blue Horse Folk art Gallery.

Bloom is a delightful accommodation with all the comforts of home. There's a tranquil ambiance here that starts with the warm hospitality of the hosts, Paul & Anna. The stylish suite overlooks tranquil gardens and is decorated with the owners' original art. The rooftop garden enhances the view. The yard and the owners' country home provide a natural and serene backdrop. The suite is cozy and inviting. The vase of fresh tulips was a welcoming treat on a rainy and cold day. It is clear that Paul and anna have put a lot of thought into creating Bloom and they are dedicated to maintaining the property to high standards. We especially appreciated the spotless accommodation and the inviting bed with crisp, white linens.
