Property Description
Located in the heart of Ontario's thriving winery region in Prince Edward County is this very large one bedroom apartment in downtown Wellington. Extra bedspace if needed for guests are a blowup travel double bed and two long sofas, both surprisingly very comfortable sleeps. Your holiday stay is just steps away from downtown Wellington, known for its popular bistros, cafes, artisans and wine.
Seven houses, or about a hundred metres away from Lake Ontario, the cool breeze is much appreciated on hot summer days in this quaint peaceful town, established in the late 1700's. Some of the buildings throughout the town were built that long ago, but most homes in the centre of town are late 1800's and early 1900's. Walking the streets adoring the neighbourhood's gardens and architecture is a good way to spend time licking on ice cream from a dairy bar, or across the street freshly made donuts from the farmers market. Both are less than a km from the house.
Local and regional artisans are featured in a gallery in town, but also their works can be seen made in their studios also in town. There's a hand blown glass studio where you can see the artist at work engulfing the liquid into the flaming tank of fire, potters and a several painters.
Things to do in town - Minutes away by foot from your holiday stay, there are a few places to walk along the lakes' edge, a public beach three blocks away suited with picnic tables, sunshelters and lighthouse. There is even a museum about the county's loyalists! And there's an newly equipped park popular with kiddies, having one of the pebbled walkways onto Lake Ontario. Swimmers can be seen going from the park to the lighthouse at the end of the boardwalk, while dog walkers and the like may stroll along the boardwalk reading bits of history and geology of the area.
On Lake Ontario In Victorian House
A small town grocery store and hardware store make it so that you don't have to get in a car and drive anywhere if you really don't want to. If variety and more convenient hours are what you like in a grocery store, there are three large chain stores twenty minutes away, in larger town about twenty minutes away that close late.
Waterfront Description & Nearby Activities
Most of the county's thirty wineries and vineyards are within a few km's. Other favourite things to do throughout the county are visiting art galleries, (both in artist's homes in town and elsewhere in the county), and a lavender farm just minutes from the house which manufactures and sells all sorts of lavender products and different kinds of lavender of course.
Picton is best known for one of the most famous dunes in the world at the Sandbanks. But if a quiet beach is more your style, there’s NorthBeach, which is closer to Wellington. And even closer is an exclusive beach, one bay away from Wellington Beach, only accessible by boat, a short swim or a dingy.
Going to the beach by foot - The Wellington beach has become a nice place to spend the day, second to Sandbanks or Northbeach. Here the waves often come in strong so children have fun diving in the whitecaps with no fear of any undertow.
