Property Description

Birch Bank Camp is located in the heart of Ontario's "Near North" tourist region. Ontario's Near North is the ultimate vacation destination.

Beautiful lakes and clean camp grounds combine to create a perfect haven in which to camp, fish, hike and just plain relax!

We are situated between the famous "Loring Deer Feeding Yards" and "Restoule Provincial Park". Wildlife, from the occasional deer or fox to ducks and loons, are commonplace.

We offer spacious cottages, scenic tenting sites and fully serviced trailer sites on the southwest side of beautiful Commanda Lake at the village of Restoule.

Birchbank Camp is nicely landscaped with flower beds, beautiful shade trees and a gentle slope to beautiful Lake Commanda. Truly unspoiled, Birchbank Camp is surrounded on three sides by water, we have the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets.

The natural sandy beach is on a shallow sandbar point which gradually drops off for the more accomplished swimmers. There are no sudden drop-offs located anywhere along the camp's shoreline. There is a floating dock for those who would prefer to jump or dive where the water is deeper. Water skiing is permitted from the end of the dock where it doesn't interfere with the swimmers on the beach.

Birch Bank Camp has a large grassy play area away from the lake, for children to play volleyball, horseshoes and other games. For the smaller children there is a playground consisting of swings and slides.

For those who love to fish, Commanda Lake has more opportunities to fish, hunt, paddle than anywhere else around. The lake contains plenty of Northern Pike, Pickerel (Walleye) and both large and small mouth Bass. There is dock space available for those who bring their own boats, or we can supply boats and motors for those who may wish to rent one.

Activities

Fishing is one of the most popular activities at Birch Bank Camp. Fishing on Commanda Lake is excellent. The lake contains Northern Pike, Pickerel (Walleye) and both Large and Small Mouth Bass. Fishing from the end of our dock is great for the kids, and they have been known to catch some real beauties.

In addition to fishing, swimming at our natural sandy beach is a must, and water skiing and tubing from the end of our dock, is a favorite with our guests who have boats large enough for this activity.

The camp rents boats and motors for those who don't bring their own. We also have canoes for those who wish to explore the lake or take in some of the shoreline scenery.

For the four-wheeling enthusiasts, there are numerous trails available throughout the area.

In addition to all the water activities, many of our guests enjoy hiking, biking, and jogging. Birchbank Camp is located well away from the main roads and busy traffic. For this reason it is an ideal location for those who prefer these activities.

For those who like to sight-see the area, we have daytime passes to the Restoule Provincial Park, that we loan to our guests upon request. Stormy and Restoule lakes, located within the park, have excellent fishing for the fisherman who prefers the larger species such as lake- trout and muskie.

Hiking trails are abundant within the park and offer the finest scenery. There are also several golf courses in the North Bay and Powassan area. They are generally within a 30 or 40 minute drive from the camp and offer a good challenge to the most avid golfers.

Our winterized house has 3 bedrooms on the main floor and a 1 bedroom basement walkout apartment.

Additional Rate Information

Our cottages are available for rent from May to October. Call for reduced rates during off season!
Our winterized house can be rented year round. It has a main floor with 3 bedrooms and a 1 bedroom walk-out apartment downstairs. These can be rented separately. (Main flr. $900 + basement apartment for $500.)

A $200.00 deposit per week is required with all reservations. We will gladly refund, if we fill the opening upon cancellations.
