Property Description

The two-storey property has a large wrap around deck on the main level with a BBQ and outdoor dining area with a few zero gravity chairs for kicking back in the sun. This side of the deck looks down over the large garden and down to the waterfront.

When you go inside the cottage the open plan kitchen, dining and living room are perfect for entertaining with friends or playing board games with kids. If the kids don’t do adult time maybe you can send them to the basement. However this is not a punishment as they will be well entertained with the TV, DVD and Nintendo Wii system set up with Rock Band, or maybe they would prefer a world championship air hockey tournament. Whatever their interests the kids will have a great time.

Waterfront Description & Nearby Activities

Nestled among the rolling hills and forests of the Haliburton Highlands is the small town of Gooderham and Gooderham Lake. Here you will find ‘Badgers Den’ a small but well loved family cottage that will suit those looking for comfortable accommodation in a pretty lakefront setting.

Once you head down to the waterfront you will be able to have hours of fun on the large grassy lawn or maybe you will just while away the hours with a good book in the hammock. At the waterfront entry the lake bed is a little muddy (1-2inches deep) so water shoes are highly recommended. The best entry is off the dock where the water is about 4ft deep, and then swim out to the raft anchored a little ways off shore. The cottage is located in a sheltered cove so it's a peaceful and tranquil spot. If the kids want to enjoy a sandy beach, the public waterfront area in the village of Gooderham offers a nice way to spend an afternoon.

There is lots to do and explore in the area. Visit the waterfront towns of Haliburton, Minden or Bancroft for shopping and eating out. Try out a spot of geocaching since the area known as Highlands East is the self-styled ‘Geocaching Capital of Ontario’ – you’ll need to visit Agnews, the general store in nearby Wilberforce, to find out more! Take a hike in the Haliburton Forest too, and visit the Wolf Centre. In the winter, there is easy access to the cottage so come and enjoy the snow - with Sir Sam's Ski area just a half hour drive and cross country ski trails even closer, this is a perfect cottage for an active winter break. There really is something for everyone.

The main bedrooms are located on the main level. The master has a queen and an ensuite bathroom; the second bedroom has a double, and there's a spare room with a futon bed. The bathroom is also on this level. In addition in the basement is the other kids room with single bunks.
