Property Description

This new log cottage is fully furnished and located on a secluded, tree studded, riverside 40 acre lot. The cottage has a full bath, fully equipped kitchen, a first floor bedroom with a double bed, and a sleeping loft with one twin bed. It is warmed by electric heaters. The cottage is well shaded from the summer sun.

The Main Southwest Miramichi River is at its front door. Osprey and Eagles are daily visitors. There is not another cottage in sight!

Fishing Season

Spring Salmon: April and May
During this period, a majority of fishing is done from a boat. 8 or 9 weight fly rods with full sinking lines or floating lines with sinking tips are commonly used. Brightly colored streamer flies (for example the Renous Special, Golden Eagle, Blue Smelt, and Mickey Finn) are usually good choices. The ability to fly cast is not an essential ingredient for successful spring fishing.

Bright Salmon: June – October
During this period, most fishing is done while wading. Traditionally, the most successful anglers have worn chest waders, used an 9 ft or 9.6 ft fly rod with an #8 or #9 weight forward, floating line. The Green Machine, the Black Bear with green butt, the Curry’s Red Shrimp, and the Ingalls’ Butterfly are just a few of the productive wet flies. The Bomber, the Whiskers, and various Wulff patterns are some favorite dry-flies. These flies and many more are tied by the skilled craftsmen of the Miramichi Valley and can be purchased at the Lodge. Recently, the Switch rod and the Spey rod have gained in popularity. They have a distinct distance advantage in windy conditions with high water.

Waterfront Description & Nearby Activities

The fast water, private, Atlantic salmon pool that fronts this property extends for more than 100 meters. It is productive when the salmon run is on, usually in July and early August, and then again in mid-September.

An Old Town canoe and kayak is included in the rental fee. At the lower end of the property, the water is quiet and deep. There is a walking trail along the river and back along through the woods.

This is the only cottage in this section of the river.

This Cottage features a double bed in the first floor bedroom and one twin bed in the sleeping loft. A roll-away cot is available at no extra charge. We take pride in providing meticulously clean and extremely comfortable lodging.

Additional Rate Information

The weekend charge is $500 Canadian plus hst; the weekly charge is $1000 Canadian plus hst tax. Meals and guide services are not included.

The minimum stay is three days. A monthly rental is available.

House Rules

A 50% deposit is required prior to a booking confirmation. Meals and guide services are not included, but will be provided when requested for an additional charge.

Cancellation Policy

Deposits are non-refundable, if the request for cancellation occurs less than 6 weeks prior to reserved dates.
