Muskoka Attractions
National Geographic Traveler magazine has chosen Muskoka as one of Best of The World - Must-see places for 2012! Last summer, Muskoka was #1 pick on their Ten Best Trips of Summer 2011, so this new 2012 Best of the World designation is awesome.
Muskoka has an abundance of things to see and do in winter, the list is long with something for every taste and interest. Visit a museum, hike a pristine trail, star gaze, relax in front of a roaring fire, harness a dog sled, tube down a snowy white hill, shop for that perfect piece of art, get up close and personal with wildlife, pamper yourself at a spa, give your taste buds a treat, photograph stunning winter vistas, or enjoy one of the many events and festivals which reflect Muskoka's charm and uniqueness. Whether you feel like being outdoors or indoors, whether you are a beginner or an expert, whatever the season, whatever the budget, Muskoka has something for everyone.
Muskoka is home to some of Ontario’s finest attractions. Museums such as Bethune House and Muskoka Heritage Place showcase Muskoka’s history, while nature lovers travel from far and wide to enjoy the region’s great outdoors – Muskoka’s many parks boast countless lakes, rivers, beaches, waterfalls, campsites and hiking trails. You can also get close to nature at the Muskoka Wildlife Centre, Echo Valley Observatory or the only dark sky reserve in Ontario, the Torrance Barrens.
No visit to Muskoka is complete without taking in the scenery (or the splendor of the region’s fall colours) on a sightseeing cruise on one of Muskoka’s beautiful lakes. Cruise Lakes Muskoka, Rosseau and Joseph on an historic steamship or the Lady Muskoka, explore Lake of Bays on a pontoon boat, or hop aboard the Island Queen and tour the 30,000 islands of Georgian Bay.
