Property Description

Two cottages sit on this beautiful island retreat on Newboro Lake. These historic buildings were built by Pullman Car Company in 1900 as a corporate retreat, and they were finished with beautiful hard-wood from ceiling to floor. The 8-acre island is all yours during your stay boasting lots of places for great swimming, fishing and nature watching. The island is in prime fishing waters - catch your fish right off the docks!

The front lodge is very large with a great view of the Rideau, large dining room, common room with pool table, huge fireplace, TV,VCR, and DVD, board games screened-in porch and two large porches. The back cottage is smaller and has a screened-in porch, covered porch, and deck facing the water. Rental of this second cottage is optional.

There is a front dock that is great for swimming and docking your boat, and the dock located at the back of the island is sheltered from waves.

This 6 bedroom cottage can accommodate 12 people comfortably. We have a second cottage on this island with an additional 3 BR to sleep up to 7 comfortably, and an additional bath.

Additional Rate Information

We always ask for a refundable $400 security deposit. Pets are an additional $50 each. To hold the week, I need half rent payment and a separate check for the security deposit. The second half of the rent will be due about 2 weeks prior to your trip.
We also do not have regular cleaners for the cottages. We have had poor luck finding someone in the past -it is a really small town. Although there are willing cleaners, there are few who have boats. We realize that this is a major inconvenience, so I have asked each group to thoroughly clean up after themselves by following the cleaning guidelines listed below. When we have ascertained that all is well after a stay, we return the security deposit AND $100 of the rent to compensate the group for the inconvenience. This has worked well for us to date, and it’s really not that hard to do.

Our cottage is available for partial week reservations (3 nights minimum) up to 7 days in advance for Off season weeks. The rates for 3, 4 and 5 night stays are 60%, 75% and 90% of the non-discounted weekly rate respectively. (Security Deposit and Pet Fees remain the same) The rate for 6 nights is the same as the weekly rate.

Cottage cleaning guidelines:
1. Sweep or dry mop all hardwood floors
2. Mop kitchen/bathroom floors. Clean basins and surfaces
3. Empty and make sure fridge and microwave are clean
4. Remove all trash from the premises
5. Please water my poor flowers!
6. Lock kayaks on dock
7. Lock all doors and leave key where you found it upon arrival.
Cleaning supplies can be found under the kitchen sink, but you might want to bring cleaning rags, as those tend to get thrown away........
