Property Description

Shipwreck Shores Chalet offers you a unique and cozy 3 bedroom cottage with stunning views of the Hillsborough Bay and the glowing lights of Charlottetown at night. Fabulous sunsets, warm ocean breezes and lazy summer evenings on the deck are just a few of the things that help make your Island experience memorable. Enjoy the tranquil splendor of Point Prim’s North Shore and the rustic beauty of a country retreat where world famous golf, seafood and the excitement of Charlottetown is just a short drive away.
The Chalet is located on the high side of the peninsula of Point Prim on a 100 acre farm at the end of a private drive through scenic farm land and is nestled on its own grounds with parking, beautiful scenery and abundant wild life. It is not unusual to see harp seals sunning on the rocks in the bay, red fox, hare or partridge, and bald eagles love to soar along the cliff taking advantage of the amazing updrafts off the ocean.

Area Information

'Twas on the shores of Selkirk Park in the year 1803, Scottish immigrants aboard the Polly landed to build their new settlement.

'Twas off these grand banks many merchant seamen met their fate (including the Gentleman, 1850 and the May Queen, 1902).

By the light of the Point Prim Lighthouse, today’s lobster fishermen still brave these very waters in their quest. Upon issue of a grant from Lord Selkirk to Black Murdock Gillis these rich and bountiful acres have since been farmed by the Gillis family.

Shipwreck Shores Chalet is built to provide visitors with the opportunity to experience the pleasures of a traditional farming and fishing community.

May your stay bring you days of pleasure as you stroll the shores, enjoy the fresh water springs, seal and eagle watching as blue herons pass overhead to Govenor's Island. Enjoy an evening on the red sand bars and another spectacular island sunset.

Waterfront Description & Nearby Activities

Swimming , clam digging, sunbathing and beachcombing directly below the chalet at low tide is a favourite relaxing pass time for those who love all that a seaside vacation has to offer.
Coopers Liquor and Grocery Store/Gas Station is a five minute drive from the Chalet on the Trans Canada.
Belfast Highlands 9 hole golf course is 5 minutes away and offers stunning views of the ocean if you want to get a few holes in before anyone even knows your gone.

Relaxing Retreat!!

Posted on February 7, 2012, 1:07 pm

We spent a glorious week at Shipwreck Shores in Sept. of 2010. The view from the cliff overlooking the Hillsborough Bay is spectacular! We enjoyed strolls along the beach during the day. Evenings were filled sitting out watching the sunset and then enjoying a campfire and conversation. We enjoyed restful nights in the cottage on cozy comfortable beds. The cottage is well appointed and conducive to cooking all your meals and BBQing etc. We found the location to be very private yet very convenient to many of the Island's sights and enjoyed antiquing, city shopping and eating fresh seafood bought at Crabby's Seafood Shack just a short drive away at the Woods Island Ferry dock.
What a wonderful variety - no one would find it difficult to fill your vacation with a variety of activities of interest for any age group. We definitely look forward to anothe visit soon!
