Viewtiful is a newly built (2010) modern home for those of you whom are looking for many of the conveniences of home away from home in the natural setting of the Bruce Peninsula. Located on the Georgian Bay at Jackson’s Cove we are a 15 km drive from Lion’s Head, about a ½ hour from Wiarton and about an hour from Owen Sound. The cottage is 2100 square feet, 2 level, 3-bedroom home with 3 washrooms. Many a guest has complimented the refreshing colours used to decorate the home. All major rooms of the cottage are built to face the view of Jackson’s Cove with large windows to enjoy the view. The southern exposure creates a bright environment in this spacious ‘open concept’ home.

Consider fall rentals to take in the glorious fall colours of the natural surroundings. For those of you with snowmobiles or ATV’s the cottage is available for winter rentals as the road is not maintained in winter. Jackson’s Cove is a residential area on the waterfront lined with cottages and permanent residences.

The kitchen is well situated for outdoor living. The kitchen is stocked with dishes, pots and pans, cutlery, some spices, tea towels and cooking utensils. Feel free to consume some of the dry goods/canned food in the cabinets and replenish the stock by leaving behind some unopened dry goods/canned goods. You will find the usual kitchen appliances; range, microwave, dishwasher, side-by-side refrigerator freezer and a water cooler. Bring your own water canister or exchange the one on site at the grocery store in Wiarton. The granite topped island hosts three swivel chairs and the kitchen table seats six. The kitchen extends into the living room where you can surf the net at the desk, watch satellite TV or DVD’s on the 46” screen television. Some DVD’s are supplied for your viewing pleasure. In the sun room there is a mini foosball table for your entertainment as well. You will also find a supply of board games and puzzles.

Waterfront Description & Nearby Activities

Areas to linger outdoors at the cottage include a 350 square foot deck off of main level that hosts a propane BBQ and seating for 6 plus a chair to lounge on. Off the master bedroom is another deck to view the splendor of the cove. On the shoreline there is a raised deck that host two Muskoka chairs- this area has been very popular with many of the guests. Extending from the shoreline is a 40-foot long dock. You will also find a metal fire pit on the stone lined waterfront.

Two kayaks are available for your use as well. The shoreline is a mixture of flat limestone rock with some rubble thus swim shoes are recommended. The clarity of the water is very enticing for swimming and fishing. Some children have spent hours snorkeling along this gradual entry into the water.

The cottage is near one of the access points to the Bruce Trail. Explore the Bruce Peninsula to find the outdoors activities with appeal for you. Attractions within an hour’s drive include Tobemory, Sauble Beach, Wiarton, Lion’s Head and Owen Sound. Check in with a local tourist information booth or website for more details.

Renters are responsible for their own garbage. Remember that the Bruce Peninsula is host to wildlife (bears, raccoons etc), rodents, snakes and insects. Garbage must be stored indoors. You will find information about the local garbage dumps and hours of operation posted on the fridge. There is a recycle depot.

The nearest community of Lion’s Head has fine dining, marina, grocery store, hardware store, confectionary, pharmacy, liquor store and a hospital.
