We invite you to be our guest for an overnight stay, a day, a weekend, or whatever suits your fancy. Relax and enjoy our private guest house overlooking the Souris River. We are at your beck and call to make your stay with us fun and relaxing.

This separate accommodation is a haven from the real world, and a tribute to the old west, decorated tastefully with a cowboy flair, antiques and memorabilia. We offer a master bedroom, fully modern kitchen and bath. Loft area sleeps four and overlooks the sittin' area. For those long summer evenings, you'll want to spend your time on the veranda or out back around the fire pit. Cold nights will find you up against the cozy woodstove.

We suggest you walk the trails along the river, canoe, or do some bird watching. Here at the Rustic Retreat we run a herd of cattle and grow various types of grain. You are welcome to join in some of our seasonal farm work. Along with cattle, we have horses, chickens, ducks, geese, kittens, and bunnies, and a great hay loft for the kids. A garden behind the guest house has been planted to supply you with fresh seasonal vegetables, just for the picking.

The town of Souris also has much to offer. Restaurants, shopping, a bird sanctuary, swimming, museums, and much more. Of course you will want to see (and walk on) our famous suspension bridge and visit our agate shop. Hartney, 11 miles to the southwest, has a grass green golf course and Elgin boasts good trout fishing.

Additional Rate Information

Rate based on double occupancy. Single occupancy only $40/night. Add $10 for each additional person. Children under 6 are free.

House Rules

Seasonal Information : Open year round, hunters & snowmobilers welcome. Larger groups can be accommodated in our Victorian home. Contact us for details.
