Property Description

We would like to extend a warm welcome to Howey Bay Resort. Because we are located a ‘little farther up the road’, you can vacation in an environment of fresh, clean air, pure water, safety and world class fisheries.

Enjoy your vacation without the ‘worries’. Our cabins are modern and very clean with the comforts of home; having everything from bedding and towels to dishwashers and microwave ovens. The cabins have TV’s, gas grills and some even have such luxuries as hot tubs.

If you have a lap top computer bring it along since you can access free wireless high-speed internet in your cabin or you can also use the “guest computer” in the main office. After a long day of fishing we have a ‘historical’ fish house in which you can socialize and prepare your fish.

Outposts

Experience...the solitude of a fly-in adventure at one of our exclusive outpost cabins. Enjoy nature in the wild where you will regularly see loons, whiskey jacks, and eagles, often see beavers and otters, and occasionally see moose or caribou. In many of our locations you will be the only guests on a ‘lake of your own’.

We work hard to provide high quality facilities and equipment and keep everything as clean and tidy as possible. All locations have hot and cold running water, showers, solar powered lights, fridge, stove with oven, chest freezer, wood stove, and well equipped kitchen with all cooking and eating utensils etc. Even though the lake water is great to drink we filter it for drinking purposes. If you wish to communicate with us or your home, satellite phones are available. Our pilots will ‘drop in’ and check on you a couple of times during your stay to bring items you may need or just to say hello.

Waterfront Description & Nearby Activities

Borel is, to many guests, an easy lake to fish since the fish seem to congregate in the same areas year after year and the lake produces a great number of walleye and northern pike on a regular basis. Catch and eat (the small fish) is the practice here. The portage lake (Bev Lake), which is catch and release fishing, can be very exciting. George Lake is a very picturesque lake which abounds with walleye and northern pike. This is a great lake for families with children since you can fish in most wind conditions and catch plenty of fish right off the dock. A seven minute walk takes you to Kenny Lake for another fishing experience. George Lake is catch and eat while Kenny Lake is catch and release. You can fish the entire week and not visit the same spot twice since Little Vermilion is over 15 miles long with many miles of shoreline and great structure. The Odin chain of lakes which include Toutin, Reigate, Lillycrop and Moose lakes, offer trophy northern pike and walleye fishing and a variety of experiences. You can stay at Odin all week and still not fish the entire lake. If you wish to walk anywhere from 5 to 20 minutes you can fish one of the four portage lakes for trophy fish. Odin is catch and eat (all the large fish are released) and the portage lakes are catch and release only. Being approximately 5 miles long and containing strictly northern pike makes this lake a northern fisherman’s dream. A seven or eight minute walk takes you to Philip Lake for high quality walleye and northern pike fishing. You can take walleye back to camp to eat but the northern in Philip must be returned to the water. If you like a challenge and like to fish great lake trout and northern pike, Valhalla is a wonderful location. There are four portage lakes where the walk is anywhere from 5 minutes to 20 minutes. Trough lake is full of northern pike while the other portage lakes are where you get your walleye to eat.

You can choose between a drive-in vacation at Howey Bay Resort or fly-in to one of our outposts. In both cases you should have a comfortable, enjoyable experience and leave feeling that we truly cared about you and the quality of your vacation.

A Deposit of $250.00 per person is required to hold your reservation for a cabin at the main resort.
A Deposit of $300.00 per person is required to hold your reservation for a outpost lake.
Deposits are transferable with notice by February 1, 2011, but are not refundable.
Personal cheques are accepted for reservation deposit only. Balance to be paid in cash or Traveller’s Cheques in U.S. Funds.
