Welcome to the Baldachin Inn Merrickville! Our Inn, a circa 1860 Heritage designated building, is located at the very centre of Merrickville, a picturesque village close to Ottawa. We are locally owned and involved in our community.

Housed in Merrickville's most striking mid 1800's stone building, you can enjoy a break from the glass, steel and concrete of the present day, and relax in the style and warmth that has made Merrickville the popular destination that it is.

Our Dining Room, has large windows, spacious ceilings and plenty of room, where you can relax and enjoy selections from our menu. Table d'Hote packages are revised daily, allowing guests to enjoy a full course feast of our favorite entrees, including local and organic options, at very reasonable prices. We support the slow food movement, and as always we wish our clients the very best food in a composed and beautiful surrounding. Sample our cellar after you have looked over our wine list, or perhaps order your favorite cocktail.

Our pub has a wide selection of spirits, single malt scotches, wines and beers, including several imported and Canadian draught beers. We take great pride in our draught facilities as they ensure you allways enjoy your beer served as it was intended.

Our dedicated banquet facilities include our ballroom, Merrickville's one-of-a-kind space, virtually unheard of in a building of this period. Tall windows, hardwood floors, stone walls, a fireplace, and high ceilings add to the ambience that will make your event a success. We offer Banquet/Conference facilities for groups from 10 to 200 and a complimentary internet kiosk.

About Merrickville

Welcome to Merrickville, a window on the past in Eastern Ontario. Merrickville Ontario has more designated heritage buildings than any other Ontario community of a similar size. The Victorian era is alive and well on the streets of Merrickville. Merrickville streets are lined with heritage stone buildings, restaurants and outdoor patios. The Rideau Canal runs through Merrickville and this historic town is deeply intertwined with the history of Ontario.

The Merrickville and District Historical Society was organized as a registered charity in 1965 in response to the concerns of local citizens that the special heritage of the Village of Merrickville would be maintained. Merrickville is the home to The 1st Merrickville Scout group that was founded in 1908, making it the oldest Scout group in North America. You can follow the Rideau Canal to Merrickville on its journey from Kingston to Ottawa, and the Merrickville Locks have changed little in its170-plus year history.

During the summer, Merrickville's streets are packed with tourists exploring art, crafts, unique stores, pubs, fine dining and events like Merrickville Canalfest and the centuries-old Merrickville agriculture fair which maintains the local agricultural traditions stemming back to the 1700s. The fall brings the Merrickville Artists' Guild Studio Tour. The Merrickville Artists' Guild was formed in 1984 and now has over 20 Merrickville artists

Winter in Merrickville brings Christmas in Merrickville, one of the most successful Christmas events in eastern Ontario, featuring a tree lighting ceremony, children’s activities, breakfast with Santa, cookie walk & weigh sale, street carollers, horse-drawn wagon rides, a chili tent, steamy hot apple cider, hot dogs and marshmallow toasting on an open fire, and a theatre performance of “A Christmas Carol”.

Individual Unit Description

Merrickville's Baldachin Inn welcomes you with European-style hospitality. All of our elegantly decorated rooms, offer private baths, cable television, and complimentary WIFI.

Despite our heritage charm, we certainly understand modern conveniences. All rooms are air-conditioned for your comfort. Some of our rooms are equipped with whirlpools.

We have eleven rooms in all, consisting of one bridal suite, two junior suites with whirlpool and fireplace, two rooms with twin beds and six regular rooms with one queen bed. Additional rooms are available at nearby B+B's if required.

All rooms are non smoking and we have a 48 hour cancellation period. All of our rooms are on the second or third floors and have only stair access. Parking is free for all our guests. Well behaved dogs are always welcome. There is a $10 surcharge.
