Property Description

The main purpose of the Bing Retreat is to provide the best possible year-round outdoor experience with easy access right here in Eastern Ontario. It is approximately 1 hour and a half drive south west of the Nations Capital and 23 miles due north of Kingston and highway 401 near Frontenac Provincial Park.

Pristine Horseshoe Lake is privately owned and brimming with wild grown trout. Several challenging hiking and mountain biking trails can be found on the property as well.

There are three golf courses within a 20 minute drive from "The Bing" . The bustling town of Westport is just a 10 minutes away offering small town hospitality, great dining and unique shopping opportunities as well as access to the historic Rideau lake / canal system.

Picture yourself spending a week in the summer with family and friends in the privacy of your very own beach enjoying the hot weather and cooling off in the crystal clear water of Horseshoe lake.

During the winter, we offer skating, cross-country skiing and ice fishing. Or how about just relaxing by the cozy fire and reading a book?

For the avid fly or spin-cast fishermen, "The Bing" has trout fishing at its best combined with easy access and luxurious lakeside accommodations all at an affordable price.

Rental housekeeping facilities are done tastefully in a rustic atmosphere, but fully equipped with modern conveniences featuring satellite TV, DVD, CD players, and propane barbeques. Horseshoe Lake also features excellant swimming with each cottage having its own dock and beach.

Weekend get-togethers with family and friends at Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, March break, or any time for that matter are always memorable at "The Bing" Retreat.

Camping

The remote campsite is a popular spot at The Bing Retreat. It is located across the lake from the cottages (boat or trail access only) and is very private. It's almost like having a lake to yourself in Algonquin Park. There is an outhouse, firepit, and a picnic table located there. There is space for 1 large tent near the water and lots more room above nestled in the pines for more tents. The campsite is located beside the outflow creek that travels down to Yankee lake where there is good Bass fishing . Firewood for the campsite can be gathered in the surrounding woods or can be purchased prior to embarkation across the lake. The swimming is great there,but the site is on a rocky point...so it may not be suitable for very young children. .

Waterfront Description & Nearby Activities

As we avid trout fisherman get older and hopefully wiser, with fishing vacation time at a premium; the prospect of driving for seven hours up north then flying into a remote outpost camp made out of orange crates and tar paper with no electricity or running water somehow doesn't seem as appealing as it used to. Many of these and other public lakes are overfished and understocked. On the other hand, the Bing offers an affordable alternative with easy access, great fishing and luxurious lakeside rental accommodation.

Individual Cottage Description

Choose from Main Lake Shore Lodge, Stone Cabin Lodge or the Log Cabin- all for yourself, to make your stay at The Bing Retreat personal and pleasurable.

Main Lake Shore Lodge can sleep up to 12 people and features a large fieldstone fireplace, screen porch and deck. The bathroom on the main floor has a superb walk-in shower and whirlpool. The Stone Cabin Lodge has 4 bedrooms and can sleep up to 8 people. It also has a fully equipped kitchen, a large screen porch, deck, and is centrally heated. The Log Cabin has 1 double bed and 2 single beds in the loft.

We also must remind you that when you rent these facilities, they are for you and you only. No one else stays with you to create a more intimate and unique experience.

Main Lake Shore Lodge's kitchen is fully equipped with every convenience you have at home. Pots, pans, plates, plenty of storage space, full size fridge, oven, toaster, and microwave are the most useful utensils that you will find inside Main Lake Shore Lodge's kitchen. Also, as pictured above, Main Lake Shore Lodge has a beautiful dining area looking out over Horse Shoe Lake. The dining table can seat up to 10 people comfortably.

All rental facilities feature a fully equipped kitchen, T.V., DVD, Stereo with CD player, and a Gas Barbecue . They are all private from each other with their own beach. (This means you and your group have the facility to yourselves and no one will distract you from your experience) The swimming areas are excellent and are complete with a dock and swim rafts. All facilities have maple hardwood floors and are quality constructed.

For the avid Trout fisherman, why travel hundreds of miles north when you can have both the luxury accommodations and the best of wilderness trout fishing right here in Eastern Ontario. For family gatherings or getaway weekends with good friends, we offer hiking trails around the lake, ice-fishing, skating, or cross country skiing. In summer, boating, swimming, and three nearby golf courses. Also Westport offers many unique shopping opportunities. Get together's at The Bing Retreat are always memorable.
