Property Description

Our lakefront housekeeping cottages are clean, modern, and comfortably furnished. All of the cottages look onto the water, either on the Bay side where the beach is, or on the far side of the Point. For distances from the water see the Resort Map. With the exception of Apartments C and D, all accommodations are individual free standing cottages.

All units have fully equipped kitchens including a coffee maker, microwave and toaster as well as stove and fridge, colour TV, electric heat and gas BBQ's and free internet. Pillows, quilt and 1 blanket per bed are supplied. You may bring your own linens and towels, or you can arrange ahead of time to rent ours. As part of your Scotsman Point experience we offer a variety of Resort Activities for all ages including free use of canoes, kayak and rowboats as well as campfires, wiener roasts, and morning coffee on the dock.

We do have a small store, laundromat and gas pump on site. The store carries necessities, souvenir items, newspapers and magazines as well as bait, tackle and fishing licenses. The store, gas pump and laundromat are open daily. There is a supermarket, medical centre, pharmacy, bank machine and several restaurants in village of Buckhorn which is a 8 km (5 miles) drive away.

Waterfront Description & Nearby Activities

Our location on Upper Buckhorn Lake, part of the Trent Severn Waterway, allows Scotsman Point guests easy access into Pigeon Lake, Big Bald Lake and Chemong Lake, with many miles of fabulous boating and some of the best recreational fishing available. Buckhorn Lake is well known for great Kawartha Lakes fishing, with species including muskie, walleye (also known as pickerel), perch, carppie, small mouth bass and large mouth bass. We offer a number of fishing packages, including midweek fishing packages, as well as fishing weekends and fishing derbies.

For Ontario family vacations and romantic couple's getaways, there is so much to do at our Kawartha Lakes resort. Naturally our fabulous waterfront with its soft sand beach and extensive dock system is the focal point for many resort activities. Resort guests have complimentary use of our non-motorized boats, including canoes, rowboats, stand up paddle board, and kayaks. A wide selection of motor boats and fishing boats are available for rent. During the summer months waterskiing, wakeboarding and tubing is available. As well, there are many organized activities for our guests. We also offer an assortment of supervised children's activities designed to entertain the youngsters and give their parents a break. Children may participate in a variety of fun activities including outdoor games and arts and crafts. Along with our beautiful Buckhorn Lake waterfront, our guests can enjoy Scotsman Point Resort's beautiful gardens, shady grounds and woodland walkways.

House Rules

All reservation from July 7 - August 25 are Saturday to Saturday and are usually weekly bookings however, we do on occasion have last minute openings . Check In is after 2PM and Check Out is by 10AM. While we cannot guarantee your cottage will be ready before 2PM on your day of arrival, you are welcome to use the resort facilities if you arrive early. All guests and visitors are required to register at the main office upon arrival.

A deposit of $300 per cottage per week OR $100 per cottage per weekend is required with a reservation. A deposit will only be refunded if notification is received by phone 30 days prior to the arrival date. A $20 administration fee will be applied to all refunds. There are no refunds for early departures or meals not taken (on meal packages).

NOTE: Occassionally we may have last minute cancellations. Please call to inquire.

For everyone's comfort and relaxation our policy is that all is to be quiet by 11:00PM.

Due to local regulations, there is one main campfire pit on the main lawn. Individual campfires at cottages are not permitted.

Smoking is only permitted on the screened porch or the deck of our cottages.

We are no longer able to accept any new dogs. Only a dog of a returning guest is permitted and needs to be booked in advance. They must be kept quiet, be on a leash at all times and tended to and cleaned up after. There is a charge of $60 per week or $30 per weekend. No cats are permitted.
