Property Description

The Winking Rosebud is an Enchanting Retreat situated on the Big Rideau and is a spectacular location for family reunions, organizational get-together's, and weddings.
The Main Lodge, a gorgeous 3500 square foot post and beam, open concept villa decorated in South American decor, sleeps 12), the lovely new Annex sleeps 5; and the boathouse sleeps 5). An 80 private wildlife reserve with mixed deciduous and evergreen forest with trails for walking, hiking, mountain biking, or cross-country skiing is available to our guests!!

The Main Lodge also has a Spa which includes an indoor Pool and Sauna. The pool is an "Endless Pool" which can be used for lap swimming, for therapy and relaxation with the hydrotherapy jets, or as a wave pool for the kids. Everyone loves the pool!! The Spa also has an indoor Infrared Sauna which is powerful Detoxification agent. There is also a music station replete with karaoke machine, a keyboard, mike, and drum kit. a 52" TV, and a Tiki Bar. A gorgeous open concept Chef's dream kitchen has French doors opening out to an expansive deck overlooking the lake, with two sitting bars.
The Guest Cottage has a Hot Tub, and four bedrooms, (two with queen sized beds and two with double-bottom-single-top bunk beds), an open concept kitchen/dining/living area with hardwood floors throughout, large windows with an incredible view of Big Rideau Lake. It also has a wood stove, an outdoor fire pit for evening campfires, and a horseshoe pit. There is a Foosball table, TV with satellite , DVD player, some dvds, a stereo, as well as some books and board games .

All sheets and linens are provided. The kitchen is well-equipped with a dishwasher, microwave, mixing bowls, baking and cooking utensils, spices, etc. We provide an initial supply of items such as firewood, propane for the BBQ, paper towels, toilet paper, dish detergent, and soap.
There is a Guest Cottage on the property (seperated by 100' and a cedar hedge) that can be rented separately.

Close To Westport, Newboro, & Perth

The Winking Rosebud Retreat is very close to the popular tourist destinations of Westport and Newboro which have some remarkable country stores, restaurants, and markets. . Don't miss the Cove Country Inn with live Jazz music every Thursday night in the summer, and the Village Green. There are many local artisans. Studio tours during the summer. Local theatre, music, and restaraunts, abound. Every Saturday there are farmer's markets throughout the area, in Westport, Crosby, Battersea, etc.

Waterfront Description & Nearby Activities

The Winking Rosebud is located on the Big Rideau, recently declared a UNESCO heritage site. It enjoys a spectacular location on Murphy's Bay, with a breathtaking view of the lake. There is over 300 feet of shoreline with deep crystal clear water, a fantastic place for swimming, boating, and fishing. The Winking Rosebud Retreat includes an 80 acre private wildlife reserve with mixed deciduous and evergreen forest with trails for walking, hiking, mountain biking, or cross-country skiing.

The waterfront a gradual walkout on a shale bottom with no significant drop-off. The water depth is approximately 8` at the end of the 50` Main House private dock. There is a swim raft with a water slide that is a short swim away.

The Boat house is at waters edge and is included with rental of the Main House and Annex. It has a second story with a 10`x20` deck overlooking Big Rideau Lake with a queen sized bed with a picture window overlooking the lake (and an incredible view of the night sky) and a set of bunk beds. It also has a mini fridge, microwave, couch, TV, DVD player, coffee maker, etc. Beside the Boathouse is a small beach (approx 25` wide). All night long you can hear the loons!!

The Main Lodge is simply resplendent: lavish, luxurious, and dazzling! The interior frames the surrounding outdoor area while the landscape envelops the building's shell. The Landscape blended architecture consists of a majestic post and beam interior with huge local timbers. The Lodge is built out of organic and local materials, and imported Mexican Saltillo and Talavera tiles. There is also a vast array of imported wood used in the interior construction: a mapa burl bar from European Elm, black cherry stairs, lodge pole pines with burls, and a walnut and copper bar. It is an artisan's dream.

Additional Rate Information

Cancellation Policy:
A cancellation made by the Renter shall be in writing and addressed to Winking Rosebud Retreat at PO Box 101, 5000 Sherwood Road, Portland, ON, K0G 1V0. Cancellation can also be emailed and will be considered accepted once a confirmation reply is received. On receipt of such notice of cancellation, we shall endeavour to re-book the holiday accommodation for the period of the original booking.
If we are successful in rebooking the holiday accommodation for the entire period originally booked, we will refund to the Renter all monies paid (whether deposit or full payment has been made) less an administration fee of $100.00 per period booked. If we are unable to re-book your holiday accommodation, then all monies paid by the Renter (whether deposit or full payment has been made) shall be refunded as follows:
50% if cancelled 60 days prior to the Check-in Date
25 % if cancelled 30 days prior to the Check-in Date
No refund if cancelled less than 30 days prior to Check-in Date
If we are unable to rent the Property, due to unforeseen circumstances such as natural disaster, we will attempt to arrange alternative holiday accommodation of a similar type and cost and standard and in a similar location as that originally requested by the Renter. If the alternative holiday accommodation and/or rate is not acceptable to the Renter, we shall refund in full to the Renter all monies paid by him/her to us.

Please refer to our website which explains our pet policy and expectations regarding the property. We deliver the property in excellent condition and expect our guests to deliver it as relatively close to the same condition as they found it.

If you should wish to cancel your reservation, the deposit will be refunded as follows:
50% if cancelled 60 days prior to the Check-in Date
25 % if cancelled 30 days prior to the Check-in Date
No refund if cancelled less than 30 days prior to Check-in Date
