Great Place
My wife and our took our two sons and their children for a week visit to this lovely home. It was in a good location, had a lot of space and comfortable rooms. Very clean and a magnificant view. The house is close to the town for supplies and you can make the trip around the Cape in one day and also an easy trip to the Fort. We were there for the Canadian "Fourth of July" and enjoyed the fire works display over the lake in town.
The owners are wonderful people and wanted us to have a good experience and called to see if everything was as we had hoped. No complaints at all. I would love to do it again and hope one day we can. If you vacation in this home you will be pleased.
Ideal Place
We were two couples (close retired friends) who took the Baadeck plung into the beauty and majesty of Nova Scotia's Cape Breton. The Bras D'or Lake Waterfront Vacation Home was perfect for us. Two bathrooms! It was extreemly clean with spectacular views of the lake. Everything was there that you could possibly need in the kitchen for meals in, if you desired. Grounds and porch were great for relaxing.
This home is situated in an ideal location for launching all kinds of adventures: Fort Louisburg, hiking the Cabot Trail, shopping for great Nova Scotia art, local theather, and just excursions to see the beautiful landscapes of the Cape. Good places to eat abound. Great seafood.
We would go back in a heartbeat!
Family Reunion - A Great Time In Baddeck
Our family reunion was absolutely wonderful - we loved this house on the lake with it's lovely views, well-stocked kitchen, comfy and well-furnished bedrooms, books, games, lamps everywhere for readers, nooks and crannies, ample space, and general ambiance. I would recommend it highly. The house is much bigger than it looks in the pictures.
Excellent Choice
Great "homey" cabin, good central location for seeing other parts of Cape Breton, bigger than it appears, photos don't do it justice. Kids loved a small loft bedroom for playing. Some distant highway noise which may bother you if you are seeking perfect quiet outdoors. Very private. Very well stocked with everything that you may have forgotten. Owners were very helpful and attentive and caretakers were very responsive. Could easily fit two families. Two water heaters in two baths, which was nice after a few cool June days spent hiking. Easy travel distance to Mabou, hiking in Cape Breton Highlands, Ft. Louisburg, Iona, St. Anne's Gaelic College. Seems like most tourist activities (e.g., Ceilidhs) happen in July and August, but June was very nice time of year for visiting, although know that it may be challenging to keep the uninsulated house warm. Baddeck was very friendly town.
Idyllic Setting In The Center Of Cape Breton
This rustic lake front cottage - right down the same road where Alexander Graham Bell lived for many years - has a spectacular view and all the privacy you could want. It is only about a five minute drive into Baddeck, arguably the best location for touring Cape Breton. Even with a couple of short hikes and other stops in the National Park, the Cabot Trail can easily be done from Baddeck in a day, and the impressively reconstructed Fortress of Louisbourg is only an hour and a half drive. Baddeck itself has considerable charm, with a number of good and fun restaurants. A notebook in the cottage of things to do and see prepared by the owners was most helpful. For golfers the Bell Bay Golf Club was set beautifully and in great condition.
The cottage itself was very homey with family pictures and other memorabilia. The kitchen was very well equipped. We vacationed in early September, so the pot belly stove in the master was welcome and fun to use. We were three couples; however, the house could easily hold several more (especially children). All in all, a memorable vacation made even better by our stay at the Lake Cottage.
