Birchwood Cottages & Trailer Park is a seasonal fishing and family destination located just south of North Bay, near the Village of Nipissing.

Fish The South River

South River and Lake Nipissing are world famous for its fishing. Catch Pickerel (our American guests prefere to call them Walleye), Perch, Pike, Muskie, Large- and Smallmouth Bass right in front of your cottage or trailer site. Even on stormy days when winds whip the surface of the lake, you can still enjoy a day's fishing in the serene and calm waters of South River.

Waterfront Description & Nearby Activities

There is plenty of fun for all ages: from basketball, badminton and
horseshoe pit to soccer, boccia and a large children's playground. You can swim in the river or on one of the many public beaches nearby. Our open gazebo with fireplace is a favourite meeting place where our guests get together to prepare their freshly caught fish and enjoy a romantic bon fire.
Many of our guests take our boats to a nearby secluded beach where they can spend a whole day bathing and fishing.

If hiking is your hobby, you will be pleased to know that just across the river from us, you have access to hundreds of acres of Crown land criss crossed with abandoned logging trails, an eldorado for the ATV enthusiast.

Shopping in the "friendly Town" of Powassan or nearby North Bay is only a short drive away. There you will find Supermarkets, Liquor & Beer Stores, Movie theatres, Doctor's offices and Hospitals. North Bay Airport is only a 45 min. ride where we will gladly pick you up (by appointment)

Individual Cottage Description

Nestled under tall evergreens along the eastern banks of the South River you will find 5 housekeeping cottages ranging from 2-3 bedrooms. All our units are comfortably furnished and feature refrigerator with freezer, stove with oven, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, clean dishes, glasses, pots and pans, barbecue, colour TV and electric heat, bedding & linen is supplied. Our cottages are well spaced for the utmost in privacy and offer a great view over the South River. There is no shortage of Picnic tables, barbecues, nature walks, and, yes, we welcome your pets too. Some of our cottages even have their own private dock.
