Property Description

In 1869, my great grandparents, James and Fanny Jenner , setled on Mary Lake under the Homestread Act. They had selected a 16 acre valley in a 100 acre property on Mary Lake. Their son, Robert Jenner built up the resort to accommodate up to 80 people. They served their own farm produce in their dining room.

Today, Clyffe House is a quiet, house-keeping resort with large 2-3-4-and 5-bedroom cottages with fully-equipped kitchens and excellent beds.

Most units have dishwashers and a fireplace. We have named the units after their original function: the "Main Lodge Apartment; the "Dining Room Apartment"; the "Dance Hall Apartments"; the "Boat House". We are trying to keep grandfather's idea that people who rent are "guests". This approach has resulted in repeat business of well over 80% each summer.

In the spring and autumn, we often have family reunions . Sometimes we have church,
groups , or team-building retreats. Our two 5-bedroom units have very large living rooms, so large that 30-40 people can eat together, meet together and celebrate. Afterwards, family groups can retire to the privacy of their own cottage or apartment, each of which is completely self-contained.

Whatever You Need, Please, Just Ask

Why do guests return so often? They love the shallow sand beach; the privacy of our 16 acre valley; the freedom to walk our 100 acres of trails; the wildlife,- deer, ducks, song birds; the bass and pike fishing; the waterskiing, tubing and tennis; all the surrounding Muskoka atttractions.

They like the quality beds; the fully-equipped kitchens with dishwasher; the free firewood, propane and boats; the extra large cottages.

Groups of 20-30 even 40 like to eat together in the "Dining Room Apt.", socialize in the "Main Lodge Apt.", and then retire to their individual cottages.

Guests appreciate the owner's commitment to meeting their individual needs and requests. How else to explain 80% repeat business ?

Waterfront Description & Nearby Activities

Clyffe House offers recreation. Our rates include the use of a tennis court, 5 canoes, 5 kayaks, a windsurfer , 5 pedal boats, and 2 electric motor boats.
Clyffe House is close to summer theatre, movies, dancing, restaurants, night clubs, horseback riding, shopping and ten golf courses.
Our guests receive a discount at North Granite Ridge Golf.
We have the privacy of 100 acres of our family property only 15 minutes away from a wide range of shopping and entertainment.
Our shallow sand beach is ideal for children. Canoe the Muskoka River south to Bracebridge. Cruise the Muskoka River north to Huntsville.
Algonquin Park is 45 minutes north; Santa’s Village is 20 minutes south. Special events include antiques shows, vintage car and boat shows, the autumn Studio Tour, Cavalcade of Colour turkey dinner and fireworks, Pioneer Village, Heritage Place steam railway, and much more.

Individual Cottage Description

Located in the beautiful valley on Mary Lake north of Bracebridge, we provide safe, fun and affordable family holidays.We are close to scenic hiking trails, ten stunning golf courses, and great restaurants. Our guests also enjoy visiting Santa's Village, Huntsville Heritage Place (Pioneer Village) and Algonquin Park; all only a short drive away!

We have 2-3-4 and 5-bedroom cottages, each fully equipped. All have fully equipped kitchens, comfortable beds. stove, fridge, Most have dishwashers and fireplaces. You may look inside each on our website www.clyffehouse.com.

In Spring and Fall, we specialize in family reunions and special events such as triathlon training, golf groups, church groups, retreat weekends. In the Summer, we cater to families. Our shallow, sandy beach is ideal for children.With thirty-one bedrooms spread over nine units, we can accommodate up to 62 people.

PACKAGE PRICE:

We charge a package price; there is no additional charge for:

firewood; kindling; propane; BBQ starters
electric fishing boats; canoes; kayaks; pedalboats; windsurfer.
tennis racquets and balls; beach volleyball; horseshoes; trail maps

We provide the INITIAL ROUND of:

paper towels; toilette paper; hand soap.
We supply dishwasher soap and dish detergent; coffee filters;

Every room has electric heat
We provide life jackets of various sizes .

Please bring your personal linen; that is, your sheets, towels and pillow cases.
The beds in the “Main Lodge Apt” are: 2 queen beds; 1 double; 6 singles.

Linen service is available at a niminal price.
Cribs and high chairs are available free upon request.

When you arrive, please consult our “Resort Guidebook” in your cottage regarding 911 and other safety procedures.

Our drinking water is treated in accordance with new government regulations: it is filtered, treated with ultraviolet light and chlorinated. It is safe to drink.

Please note that during July and Augfust, check-in time is after 3.p.m.; check-out time is 10 a.m.

Our motto is "Whatever you need, please, just ask!"; and we mean it!

Cancelation Policy

PLEASE NOTE:

1. Please send a 33% deposit with your reservation. In the event of a cancellation, full refunds minus a $200.00 service charge per unit reserved
are given up to 60 days prior to the check-in date.

2. In the case of a “late” cancellation (i.e. inside the” 60 days period”), a refund depends upon either of us re-renting the unit
for the same time period.

3. The balance of the rent is due upon arrival plus HST.

4. This reservation is a contract; there are no discounts for late arrival or early departure.

5. There are new motor boat operating licenses required by Ontario. Please seewww.safeboater.com or call (toll-free) 1 877 737 2223 for information.
These rules apply to electric motor boats as well as gasoline-powered boats.

6. Guests using Clyffe House canoes, kayaks, pedalboats, electric boats, and windsurfers must use life jackets and comply with the new boating regulations.

7. We now offer a Lazer sailboat to experienced sailors for a rental of $50 for 4 hours.

8. New insurance regulations require that all guess sign a waiver prior to waterskiing and tubing.

9. Please observe a “quiet time” after 11 p.m. through the night to ensure everyone has a peaceful holiday.

10. We do not permit day guests without prior approval. A guest fee of $30 per day per person applies if approval is given.
This policy ensures that boats, beach and courts are available for those “in residence” here.
Day guests are not insured while using boats, docks and other facilities unless the day fee is pre-paid.

A “day-guest” is defined as someone visiting during the day who is not sleeping over as part of the normal contingent in the rented unit.
There is no charge for a day-guest if that person is not in addition to the published total number of people permitted in your unit.
