Eastman Attractions
The municipality draws attention with its picturesque landscapes and recreation and tourist activities. Eastman residents are so successful at caring for the environment on both an individual and a collective level that the village earned four Fleurons (blooms) for horticulture from the Fleurons du Québec (Quebec’s Communities in Bloom program). Located at the foot of Mount Orford, the village of Eastman features four lakes (Argent, Orford, Parker and Stukely) and several areas that have become popular with cottagers. In addition to its renowned spa, Eastman hosts the Correspondances d’Eastman, a unique letter-writing festival in early August and a prominent antique show in late September. The centre of the village features a lake whose name has changed from Lake Missisquoi, to Lake Eastman and is now known as Argent Lake.
The village is named in honour of John Eastman and was officially founded in 1889. Historically, it was distinguished by its copper mines and then by the forestry industry, and has now become a holiday destination.
