Description de la propriété

Carpenter Lake Cabins offers quality housekeeping accommodations in the rugged wilderness of the Algoma Highlands 90 km east of Sault Ste Marie, Ontario. Recreational opportunities include world-class fishing for lake trout, brook trout, pike and bass in more than a dozen nearby lakes where we have boats. The resort has good beaches for swimming, canoe rentals and well marked hiking trails that lead to waterfalls and scenic lookouts. A network of nearby roads and tracks can be explored by all-terrain vehicles and mountain bikes. Deer, moose and partridge are native to the area and can be hunted in fall.

We are open May through early November and briefly in winter; we can be reached by car in summer and snowmobile in winter. Weekly cabin rates range from $468.00 to $877.00 for a family in summer and include free use of boats.

There is a lot to say about Carpenter Lake Cabins. Please explore www.carpenterlakecabins.com and contact us. We are happy to answer questions about the cabins and places to go and things to do.

Fishing & Hunting

Carpenter Lake Cabins is situated in a prime area for fishing. We have boats on more than a dozen nearby lakes that are deep and clear; the lakes can be reached by car, ATV or walking.

Brook Trout
Brook trout live in many small lakes and streams of the area. Fragile, moody and easily spooked, they provide one of the more challenging fishing experiences. Fishing is normally done by a combination of spin casting and still-fishing using light artificial tackle and worms or by fly-fishing. Small boats are located on many nearby brook trout lakes for the fisherman. Become a member of our “Spec Club” with the biggest spec of the year.

Lake Trout
Many large nearby lakes are the home of lake trout. The trout can be in shallow water in spring but retreat to deeper levels in summer and are normally taken by trolling. We have wide-deep boats on these lakes and you need special trolling rods, reels, line and tackle to connect with the fish.

Pike and Bass
Several lakes such as Carpenter are the home of Northern Pike and Smallmouth Bass. These species are active in the warm mid-summer months and can be fished using the boat in front of your doorstep.

Whitetail Deer
Carpenter Lake Cabins is a comfortable base for your hunting and offers several options for your style of hunting. For the casual hunter, there is a network of nearby roads and tracks that can be driven by truck, ATV or walked. For the more serious hunter, we have deer stands and maintain pre-season deer-feeders on private land for the exclusive use of our hunters.

Small Game
The land around Carpenter Lake is the home of partridge that can be hunted in fall by driving or walking roads and traversing fallen leaves on hikes in the forest. A partridge stew is an essential part of a fall trip to Carpenter Lake.

Description du bord de l'eau et activités proches

Setting
The cabins are widely separated by trees and lawn on a peninsula in Carpenter Lake. All have decks overlooking the beach and open areas. You can sit on the deck and watch the kids swim or stroll the grounds and fish from the nearby bridge. There is a large floating dock with boats and canoes and lawns with volley ball and basket ball nets. Each cabin has a fire-pit that is a great place to gather in the evening. The lodge has a small store, telephone and internet access.

Canoeing
Carpenter Lake is suited for canoeing. Two double pointer canoes are at the dock and can be used for local trips or longer expeditions. You can go for a leisurely paddle on the lake in front of your cabin or explore the meandering Thessalon River. The Thessalon River leads through weed beds and wetlands and is a great place to view fish in the clear water and wildlife including wetland birds on the shores. Check out the beaver houses and dams.

Hiking
Carpenter Lake Cabins maintains two hiking trails of about 5 km length. The Carpenter Lake Trail leads around Carpenter Lake and gives spectacular vistas from rocky bluffs overlooking the lake. The Thessalon River Trail follows the river past waterfalls, rapids and small lakes. The trails are well marked and regularly cleared of brush.

Wild Flowers
The forests and wetlands of the Carpenter Lake area are the habitat of beautiful wildflowers. In early May and prior to the development of an extensive leaf canopy, the floors of the hardwood forests are decorated with an assortment of delicate woodland flowers ranging from the tiny May Flower to the Adder’s Tongue and Trillium.

Winter Activities
Carpenter Lake Cabins provides comfortable accommodations for snowmobilers, ice fishermen and outdoor enthusiasts during our winter open-season. The winterized cabins are a welcomed respite from the elements. Try out our sauna! We are on a groomed snowmobile trail.
