Situated on the remote shores of beautiful twenty-seven mile Esnagi Lake's unspoiled wilderness, Mar Mac Lodge has been providing the highest quality fishing and hunting trips available in Canada for over 35 years.

Fly-in or Train-in Only
Being accessible only by float-plane or train limits the number of anglers and hunters on our waters. Not only does this make your holiday with us unique but also successful as we can offer you fantastic walleye, northern pike, perch, whitefish, brook and lake trout fishing.

Trophy Bear & Moose Hunts
The surrounding forests and wetlands are home to an abundant moose and bear population. We'll do our utmost to ensure your hunt is successful.

The Very Best Wilderness Vacation
As your hosts we are committed to providing the very best accommodations and services possible. Our cabins are fully modern (new or recently and extensively renovated) with comfortable beds, indoor plumbing, electricity and full kitchens. We offer American or Deluxe Housekeeping Plans at the main lodge, or choose one of our Deluxe Wilderness Outposts, the Northend or Merekeme. We are the only outfitter in the area to offer our guests the comfort of 18ft. Cedar Strip Boats equipped with boat seats and powered by late-model 20hp 4-stroke Yamaha outboards (gas included).

Mar Mac Lodge is within a one day drive from most mid-west US or central Canadian cities and is accessible only by float plane or train. In conjunction with our travel partner we can arrange your itinerary from almost anywhere in the world. With lots to see and do on the way just getting here is half the fun!

Enjoy Your Fly-in or Train-in Fishing Experience With The Best Equipment
You will find our handcrafted 18ft cedar boats roomy and comfortable. Equipped with dependable 20hp Yamaha outboards your boat will ply our waters with ease and get you to your favourite fishing spot quickly. Your boat also comes equipped with swivel seats, landing nets, bait buckets, life vests and gasoline.

Look Forward to a Savoury Shorelunch
Outdoor meals are a gourmet's delight when they're composed of freshly caught fish, cooked over an aromatic wood fire and served on the shores of a scenic lake.

Get The Most From Your Fly-in or Train-in With Our Experienced Guides
Though you will find Esnagi an easy lake to navigate on your own, we do offer experienced guides who are eager to show you the latest hot fishing spots and prepare your days catch over an open fire on our scenic shores.

Portage for Brook Trout or Fly-in for Lake Trout
For variety you may want to take a short (about 10 minutes) walk in to Rock Lake for trophy sized Speckled Trout or fly in to Starr or Trout Lake for a day of fishing for lunker lakers.

Conservation for a Better Future
We realize that the most important ingredient in satisfying our guests is the quality of the fishery. Our proven method of conserving the fishery in remote lakes is limiting the numbers of fishermen each season. In addition we introduced slot sizes way back in 1993. With these practices on Esnagi Lake for years we have definitely maintained and even enhanced a very high level of walleye and northern pike fish populations.

You Can Help Conserve Our Fish Stocks
We also request that our guests respect the fishery in each of these lakes by releasing as many fish as possible. Many now choose to take a Conservation License limit home while others take none at all. We should all remember that the most important aspect of the experience is catching the fish.

SERVICES AND EQUIPMENT
Bait - We keep a good supply of bait, including night crawlers, minnows and leeches available for purchase.

Boats and Motors - We are proud of our traditional, hand built by Giesler Bros., 18ft. cedar strip boats powered by dependable 20hp Mercury or Yamaha outboards. All boats are equipped with padded seats for your fishing comfort. We also provide life jackets (for your comfort, we would advise bringing your own), cushions, landing nets and bait buckets.

Dock Service - When you arrive at the dock each morning, you will find your boat has been cleaned, the seats wiped down and the motor running. Dock staff are on hand to make sure your gas tanks are full and that you have the bait you require. Our dock staff will greet you and service your boat each time you return to camp!

Fish Cleaning - Once you return to camp with your catch of the day, you can arrange with one of our friendly dock staff to clean and freeze your fish for your trip home.

Guides - Our staff includes professional guides who have been fishing these lakes for many years and know where the fish are. They will be happy to advise anyone on the best types of lures and bait as well as indicating the 'hotspots' on our lake map. All are experienced, eager to get you fishing and all-round fine fellows with whom to enjoy your day on the lake.

New or Newly Renovated Cabins
Our cabins are spacious and comfortable, of log and frame construction with one to four bedrooms. Cabins with three bedrooms or more are equipped with two complete bathrooms for your convenience. All are fully modern with hot and cold water, indoor plumbing, electricity, refrigerators, propane cooking, microwave ovens, coffee makers, toasters and oil space heaters or gas fireplace heaters. All dishes, cutlery, cooking utensils and linens are supplied. Each cabin has a large deck and a gas barbecue. Cabins are kept meticulously clean by our housekeepers.

Our Main Lodge
All guests are invited to our recently expanded main lodge to enjoy our lounge and games room where they can play a game of pool or cards as well as get to know their fellow guests and trade 'the big one that got away' stories. We also have a 50" satellite television, dvd's and videos for those rainy days. A public phone is available and we now offer complimentary wireless internet.

We have two Deluxe Wilderness Outposts, Merekeme and Northend, both located on the northerns shores of Esnagi Lake. Merekeme will accommodate parties of up to 8 and Northend up to 12. Both are well-equipped to make your stay enjoyable.

Recommended tackle for Northerns is spinners, spoons, plugs, anything BIG, 15 lb test line, medium action rod and for Walleyes, jigs & minnows/crawlers/leeches, 6 - 10 lb test line, light - ultra light rod.
Staff from our main lodge will visit every few days to make sure everything is going well. In addition we have a Wilderness Outpost located on Starr Lake famous for excellent lake trout fishing.
