The Sunshine Coast has long been a destination for cottagers, dating back to the turn of the century when the Union Steamships used to bring the wealthy ‘summer people’ up to the area, dropping them in Gibsons, Selma Park, Trail Bay, Halfmoon Bay and Pender Harbour. The tradition still exists, but these days its usually people traveling by car and looking to jettison their everyday cares for a while where life goes at a slower pace, nature is ever-present, and old-fashioned activities that promote adventurousness and togetherness dominate. Welcome to our world at Konrad Cottages in Halfmoon Bay!

Konrad Cottages offers one of the best cottage/vacation rental experiences in Coastal British Columbia. Located in Halfmoon Bay, in a neighbourhood referred to as Welcome Woods, our cottages are right on the water in one of the Coast’s most beautiful ocean bays – Welcome Beach.

You can choose to stay either in the Cottage, a 2 bedroom bungalow with level beach access, or the Chalet - a private two-bedroom nestled in a cedar grove, with a sunny, spacious deck and views of the ocean. We hope to see you soon!

Special Features

Beach Cottages

Beachside lawn/patio — with BBQ, patio table and chairs, hammock, and shade trees (for hot summer afternoons), covered seating for two (for those rare rainy days) and a private hot tub off the master bedroom.

Accessibility — extra safe for seniors and families with small children with level access (only two very small steps), grab bars in bath/shower, level front lawn and beach frontage just a few steps from the cottage.

Beachfront Chalet

Large sundeck — provides an ocean and garden view extension to the kitchen and living room (see virtual tour), furnished with BBQ, patio table and chairs, lounging chairs, patio swing, and NEW (for the 2011 season) a private hot tub.

Treehouse — just for the kids.

Beachfront equipment

Water lovers can swim to our float, paddle in our two sit-on-top kayaks or our canoe, row or sail in our sailing dinghy/rowboat “smallfry”, children and kids-at-heart can play in the water with our boogeyboards and inner tubes. Lifejackets are provided. Teens can test their skill with our skimmer boards. Everyone can enjoy making sandcastles sand toys, or just relax in a beach chairs and take in the view. Sun umbrellas are available. Camp fires are allowed subject to seasonal fire restrictions.

Backyard games area

Enjoy your choice of volleyball, badminton, or croquet.

Welcome Beach is one of the few truly sandy beaches on the Coast, and is one of the better-kept secrets too! Limited parking for day visitors and no major facilities means that crowds typically head to Davis Bay or Porpoise Bay Park. Meanwhile you wake up in your own beachfront cottage and step right onto the beach any time you like, with all of the amenities you need handy and close by.

You can walk the beach (it’s great for off-season stormwatching too), swim along the shore or out to the float, put in your kayaks or small rowboats, or just sit on the beach and soak up some sun and watch the marine traffic go by while birds like the red-beaked oystercatcher, blue heron or bald eagle hunt along the shore and shallows.

Welcome breakfast — self-serve continental style including coffee and tea.

Full kitchen — includes fridge, stove/range, toaster, coffee maker, electric kettle, electric frying pan, full variety of pots and pans, cooking utensils, serving bowls, place settings for 8, steak knives, wash cloths and tea towels, and more.

Dining area — table and seating for 8, linen table cloth, candle center piece, and linen placemats and napkins.

Living room — ample comfortable seating, throw blankets, fireplace, candles, TV, DVD, cablevision, CD/iPod player, and wireless connection.

Bathroom — full bath room with wash cloths, hand towels, bath towels, hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, body washes, and blow-dryer.

Two bedrooms — furnished with quality, comfortable beds and linens. Each unit has an iron and ironing board, and bedrooms have separate temp. control for your comfort.

Laundry — washer and dryer in each unit.

Back-up services — Stormy weather. Powers out! You can still be warm and cozy with the heat from the fireplace, and if necessary, use our well-lit, outdoor kitchen conveniently located adjacent to the cottage entrance.
