La Pourvoirie du Milieu (The Middle Land Outfitter), previously Bellerose Picard Outfitter, is the largest outfitter in the Montreal area. It was acquired in 2008 by local people from Saint-Michel-des-Saints.

This huge territory, which had been abandoned for ten years, is currently undergoing reconstruction. Seventeen new or renovated cabins are now available on 240 km2 of land.

As the territory is very large, the closest shop can be rather far, and clients are encouraged to bring all they need with them. The reception is in the village of Saint-Michel-des-Saints, where you can also find food, and the outdoors essential. However, the farthest cabin is at 54 kilometres of the village on forest roads. There is generally one cabin per lake, although exceptions exist in order to allow larges groups to get together. On Lake Laviolette, which is very large, four cabins can be found, still rather far from each other.

Fishing And Hunting

Hunting

This past year, we have opened many new roads, accessible by vehicles and foot. This gives access to territories that have not been hunted in for years. In addition, in the past twenty years, only a few clients have accessed our 240km2. Come and discover our forest and meet its game…

Small game hunting is open from around the 20th of Sept, to the 15th of Jan, although in our case, most activities are stopped in mid-November. Hare, ruffed grouse, woodcock and tetras can be found on our territory. In some areas, it is possible to hunt small game with dogs. Please enquire while making your reservation.

Our 240km2 are divided into exclusive territories. A group in one territory will be the only one to hunt moose there in a given year. Your are only allowed to hunt male animals

Fishing

Our outfitter includes more than a hundred lakes and multiple rivers. This year, we had boats on around sixty lakes and rivers.

Northern pike is the specie that is more present in the lakes, grey trout is present in four lakes and yellow walley is present in two lakes in the North of the territory (for now, as we have seeded few lakes that have been know to contain them in the past).

Largemouth bass is dominant in the south, especially in the lake and river Laviolette, as well as in the river Du Milieu. Landlock salmond was seeded in lake Laviolette around 40 years ago and is now reproducing naturally in that lake. Most specimens fished were between 5-7 lbs. Brook trout is now present in all sectors of the outfitter: it is naturally present in 10 lakes and seeded in 14, all of which are accessible in vehicle or by foot. Natural lakes are protected to avoid exhausting the resource, and the quota is fixed at 5 trouts per person. Seeded lakes have a quota of 10 trouts per person: some are smaller, while others are much larger and can reach 1kg. Yellow Perch can be harvested in the center and southern sectors.

Boats are always included in the fishing fee.

Dozens of beautiful beaches are scattered through the territory for swimming. The water is clear and it is a pleasure to swim in it.

However, the use of quad bikes and ATV is strictly controlled.

It is also frequent that you meet a moose on the road, which can be quite impressive
