Description de la propriété
Young’s Wilderness Camp is a traditional, family owned, fishing and hunting resort that appeals to those who are looking for a quiet getaway. Our base camp is located on a 5½ acre private island on Steven’s Bay, on the southeastern side of Lake of the Woods, just north of Nestor Falls, Ontario. We are the only camp on the six mile-long bay making it the perfect place to get away from telephone, traffic and other noise. We run a small camp, pride ourselves on customer service and have a very high percentage of return guests. Many of our guests are second, even third generation. If you’re interested in fishing we’re in an ideal location for muskie, northern, walleye, bass, crappie, perch and lake trout. We also have a fly-in outpost cabin which is located on the eastern side of Kishkutena Lake, about a twenty minute flight from Nestor Falls. The fish species available there are muskie, bass and lake trout. Hunters will find abundant deer, ducks and grouse on both the mainland and any of the many islands within a few minutes of the resort. For those who just want to escape you can hike through the bush, take a canoe ride or find a natural beach and go swimming - the possibilities are endless.
Kishkutena Lake Remote Camp
For those who want an even more remote location we offer fly-in trips to our Kishkutena Lake facility. If you like the privacy of wilderness, the serenity of solitude and to live your dreams of catching fish, you’ll love the settings at this remote fly-in outpost.
The lake is approximately seven miles in length, over sixty feet deep at its deepest point and features numerous bays and rock piles. Scrappy smallmouth bass in the one to five pound range are abundant and 50+ inch muskies have been caught-and-released at Kishkutena. The lake also offers up the mighty Lake Trout that can be found in the deeper waters of this pristine lake.
“Kish” is located east of Nestor Falls and is about a twenty-minute flight from the dock at Young’s Camp.
Our cabin there can accommodate up to seven people, has a kitchen, living room, two bedrooms and a hot-and-cold water shower room. It is equipped with solar powered lights, a propane refrigerator and stove, backup generator and cell phone to communicate with camp. Also provided are linens, blankets, towels, cookware, cutlery, dishes, barbeque and outside cooker.
There are two 14-foot boats with six horsepower outboard motors and two 16-foot boats with 15 horsepower motors. Both are equipped with swivel seats and life jackets, muskie cradles and gas. The 16-foot boats are also equipped with a casting platform and bow mount trolling motor.
A very popular trip with our guests is a 6 night/5 day combined package where you spend half of the time at our main base on Lake of the Woods and the other half at the outpost on Kishkutena Lake.
Description du bord de l'eau et activités proches
Located on our own five acre private island there is no pollution, cars or the lights and sounds of the city. Guests can just spend the day relaxing in camp or go on impromptu outings that take advantage of all the beauty the Canadian wilderness has to offer. There are unlimited hiking opportunities on old logging roads in the thousands of acres of bush. Nature lovers are advised to bring a good pair of binoculars and a camera as we have black bear, deer, moose, ducks, gulls, pelicans and grouse. Our area is also home to many magnificent bald eagles and the icon of wilderness - the loon.
We can also provide you with a canoe if you'd like to explore the surrounding waters more closely. Our five-mile long Stevens Bay, with its many back bays and islands, is an inlet making it virtually impossible to get lost. Stop on an island and go for a swim or take a short hike to search for mushrooms, blueberries, raspberries and strawberries. Keep your eyes open for native pictographs that can be found painted on rocks in the area.
If you want the opportunity to spend a few hours in town, souvenir shops that cater to local artists are located in nearby Nestor Falls and Sioux Narrows. While you are there put a little time aside to go for a sightseeing trip by plane or stop for an ice cream. If you want to make it a full day, go north to see Rushing River and Husky the Musky in Kenora or go south to Stratton where you will find the Kay-Nah-Chi-Wah-Nung Historical Centre - an interpretive centre with Anishinaabe artifacts, a sturgeon hatchery and ancient burial mounds.
For those of you who want to bring along your clubs, we have two golf courses located within an hour’s drive from us –White Moose Golf Course is a nine-hole waterfront course located just north of Sioux Narrows and Kitchen Creek Golf Club is an eighteen-hole course located just west of Fort Frances.

For individual descriptions and photos of each cabin, please refer to our website.
Under the American plan guests are served three home cooked meals a day. Dinner is served buffet style including a salad bar and is topped with one of Carol’s home made deserts. Guests may return to the lodge for lunch, have us make you a sack lunch to take with you or arrange for a traditional Northwood’s shore lunch. After dinner you can watch the lodge television with satellite feed, check your email or sit around the bonfire outside and swap stories about the one that didn't get away.
All American Plan packages include an Ontario 8-day Conservation fishing license and cabins with a refrigerator, linens, bathrooms with towels and daily maid service. When you choose American plan just bring your gear and clothes.
Housekeeping cabins include a refrigerator, stove and microwave, gas barbeque, cooking utensils, dishes, blankets, linens and towels. You bring your gear, clothing and food.
Many new friendships are started and old acquaintances renewed while relaxing in our air conditioned lodge. Also located here is our store area and tackle shop. We keep a wide variety of tackle on hand in the event you need that one special bait that you didn't bring with you.
